Innovation in FUE Hair Restoration

Shaving the entire scalp is used in the vast majority of hair transplant surgeries.  The innovation of the Celebrity FUE Hair Transplant (not just for celebrities) procedure is growing in popularity at Los Angeles US Hair Restorations centers. This is because the scalp is not shaved.

When transplanting a small number of follicular units by the individual removal of the grafts shaving of the scalp is not mandatory.  The demands on the surgeons and medical technicians are arduous but the benefits to the patients are worthwhile.

Unshaved scalp means:

  • Your procedure is virtually undetectable
  • No major change in current hair styling

The Celebrity (non shaved) FUE Transplant is a development of utilizing follicular unit hair transplant procedure in multiple non invasive procedures to restore hair to balding scalp. As in most FUE procedures when indicated a FOX test is conducted to assure that a patient is not vulnerable to high level of transaction (damaged grafts).  Patients with overly curly hair particularly may not suit well to the individual extraction of follicular units (FU).  A FOX test is the best way to determine that FUE hair restoration is the best choice for a patient.

Celebrity FUE transplant procedures provides:

  • A gradual improvement to patients pattern baldness
  • Allows patient to enjoy an uninterrupted schedule

US Hair Restorations Los Angeles hair transplant centers are under the direction of Parsa Mohebi, MD. Dr. Mohebi also serves as the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons chairman of the FUE committee.  He notes that FUE procedures can be applied in unique situations for some patients to meet the demands of their very busy lifestyles.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) for Scar Revision

FUE hair transplant procedure is used for completely restoring hair to balding areas of scalp. The nature of this surgery makes it more time consuming because each follicular unit (FU) is extracted singularly. The FUs can have one, two, three or even four hair shafts. This type of procedure on like ‘Strip Method’ hair transplant procedures allows for a limited number of grafts to be extracted.

Scar Revision with FUE at Los Angeles Hair Transplant centers

Since the extraction of individual follicular units (FUs) is done individually it is perfect for the small procedure of revisioning a hair transplant scar from a previous hair transplant. The surgeon can extract a small number of grafts from the permanent zone and artistically and strategically place them in the scar. This process of using FUE uses hair to obscure and blend the margins of the scar to the surrounding scalp.

Use of micro and mini-grafts for frontal hair restoration surgery

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Significant advancements in the field of hair restoration surgeries; centered on the introduction of micro and mini grafts has revolutionized the industry. Use of these types of grafts allows for creating natural hairlines.

What are mini and micro grafts?

Improved Hairline with FU TransplantedMini grafts are actually very small organs of the body called follicular units (FU).  An FU can consist of one, two, three or four hairs. After harvesting these micro grafts they can be place at any point of the recipient’s scalp. This method of hair transplantation has brought into focus aesthetically superior surgical hair restoration results. These advancements have increased the treatment options for men and women suffering from baldness. New hair transplant techniques give natural, permanent and proven results when FU or micro grafts are utilized in reconstructive and restoration procedures.

These extremely small little organs (FU), have low metabolic needs and thus are able to better survive the transplantation process as compared with older plug grafts which are easily damaged (transected). These new methods are very helpful in scar revision reconstruction surgeries. Micro grafts have been able to grow fast and successfully even on scalp that has been burnt.

Today’s micro-grafting techniques or better said follicular unit transplantation procedures provide hair loss patients with the results they desire.

SCALP Tattooing

Scalp Tattoing for Hair RestorationSMP- scalp micro pigmentation is a cosmetic hair restoration procedure where the patients scalp is tatooed with ink to create the illusion of shaved hair or hair stubble. This is a method sometimes preferred by bald men who are seeking an alternative to hair transplant surgery or to augment hair transplant surgery. Performed correctly SMP provides the appearance of short shaved hair to balding areas of the scalp. Like any cosmetic medical procedure the results are only as good as the surgeon performing the procedure.

SMP eliminates the hassle of frequent applications of a topical hair product to hide thinning, as they can be messy and be transferred onto clothing, sheets or pillow cases. SMP can be used for a variety of scalp conditions that include: genetic androgenic alopecia (AGA) otherwise known as male pattern balding (MPB), scarring alopecia’s from a variety of autoimmune diseases of the scalp (e.g. alopecia areata, alopecia totalis). SMP is very helpful and reducing the appearance of some types of scarring. It can also used to manage the unnatural appearance that is associated with older unnatural looking hair transplant procedures.

US Hair Restoration centers utilize SMP to reduce the appearance of scars to create an illusion of density and military shaved type hairstyles and other uses such as eyebrow density. Always make an educated decision before considering any permanent solution for hair restoration. If you are considering SMP consult with one of Los Angeles or Beverly Hills leading hair restoration centers.

The Cause and Problem of  Hair Loss

Dihydrotestosterone (5α-Dihydrotestosterone), [DHT] is a male sex hormone, an androgen. Male and female adults can lose hair as a consequence of changes in the metabolism of androgen in the body – men far more commonly than women. Most men experience hair loss from the effects throughout their life. The incidence increase with age; however, some men can experience it even in their adolescent years.

Male pattern baldness, [MBP] is also known as androgenic alopecia or androgenetic alopecia, is caused by the hair follicle’s sensitivity to DHT. The follicles miniaturize [shrink], reducing the lifespan of the follicle resulting in abnormal production of hair. Hair loss is considered to be a legitimate medical problem that in some individuals leads to serious depression.  DHT plays a major role in hair loss.

Female Pattern Baldness, [FPB] also has an androgenic component but can also have some other contributing factors.  The best hair restoration surgeons will order additional tests to isolate that the cause is androgenic. In patients where this is accurate than hair transplant is a natural, proven and permanent solution.
